from JYP Entertainment is set to make its return after Highlight’s.Ĭomposed by Lee Ki-kwang, Highlight’s main dancer and lead vocalist, with some help from Joo Chan Yang and “Lavin,” “Not the End” is a mid-tempo dance ballad that starts reflectively then picks up pace to build up to a refrain that’s an electronic-orchestral drop reminiscent of the band’s very memorable valedictory before entering the military in 2018, the highly acclaimed “Loved.” The last in fact has made its comeback only in April. The song immediately skyrocketed to the iTunes charts around the world, including the Philippines, and its MV on Youtube trended well, with Netizens commenting that the song seemed to herald the return not only of Highlight but also of other second-generation K-pop acts such as B1A4, Super Junior, and Shinee. The mcs are teasing to Y/n.Highlight, the 11-year-old K-pop act formerly known as Beast and identified by BTS as the band it “looks up to,” has made a triumphant comeback from military service with “Not the End,” a scintillating dance ballad that celebrates spring, vitality, hope, and fresh beginnings. These are all professional and well-run sites. In the source code for my earlier freeCodeCamp post, I used the CDN to import AG Grid in my code using a script element.Īs with all code that we copy and paste, it's worth understanding what it does so that we can handle any issues. Npm-driven CDNs monitor the releases distributed via npm, and host the releases on their own site. Instead, programmers can add a direct reference to AG Grid from a CDN like. We can use an 'npm driven CDN' as the host for libraries, without having to use npm.Īn 'npm-driven CDN' is one which hosts the distribution code for libraries which deploy to npm.įor example, AG Grid which I demonstrated in my article " How to Convert a Static HTML Table to a Dynamic JavaScript Data Grid" deploys to npm but does not have its own CDN. We don't have to be using npm and JavaScript build processes to take advantage of the npm eco-system. npm downloads the library from a CDN and adds it to the project locally. Most libraries deploy to and rely on the programmer adding the library to their project via npm at build time. If most JQuery applications import the JQuery library from this CDN, then users are more likely to have JQuery in their cache already. This speeds up your site because the browser doesn't need to download the library again.įor example, JQuery has an official JQuery CDN. This can make your application faster than hosting files yourself.ĬDN's also have the advantage that if you are using libraries common to multiple sites then your users may already have the file cached in their browser. They are usually highly performant and offer location cached files so no matter where your users are, they receive the files from geo locations close to them. These are file hosting services for multiple versions of common libraries. What is a CDN?Ī CDN is a Content Delivery Network. In fact, if you've followed any JavaScript tutorial for a library, then you've probably already used a public CDN but may not be aware of it. This can simplify deploying the application and keeping dependencies up to date. Most popular JavaScript libraries are available from a public Content Delivery Network (CDN). * **Developer tools included** - HMR support out of the box for a fast and pleasant developmentĪdd the hybrids ( ) to your application, import required features, and define your custom element: Hybrids is a UI library for creating web components with strong declarative and functional approach based on plain objects and pure functions. When you're writing a Vanilla JavaScript application, you don't have to host all the code you use on your own site. Four 7-inch singles - “Subdivisions,” “Countdown,” “New World Man,” and “The Weapon (Single Edit”) - are also included, all of them with new artwork from Syme. Next, to give the Signals 40 box a more thorough, detailed textual play-by-play, the Super Deluxe edition includes 1CD, 1BD, and a 180g black-vinyl LP with new artwork from original album designer Hugh Syme in a premium tip-on jacket. What’s in the big Signals 40 box, you ask? First, you can see exactly what’s what in the official unboxing videoclip below. (Yes, we know this is in fact Year 41 for Signals, but keep in mind the greater supply-chain thing has caused a number of historical multidisc releases to come out a bit later than we’d all prefer in the pandemic/post-pandemic era.) Signals, Rush’s ninth studio album, was originally released in September 1982, and its technology-embracing riffs and rhythms continued the forward-thinking trajectory of the acclaimed Canadian trio as it continued to chart the demands of a new decade. A limited edition of the Super Deluxe box featuring eight lithographs of drummer/lyricist Neil Peart’s original hand-drawn lyrics for each song on Signals will only be available through the official Rush online store, which you can access/pre-order right here. In addition to the aforementioned Super Deluxe box set and 1LP picture disc edition, a Dolby Atmos digital edition will also be available (for the 360-degree-listening-inclined amongst us, that is). The countdown is on! Rush will celebrate the 40th anniversary of their ninth studio album Signals with a smattering of special releases, including a super deluxe box set with 180g 1LP black vinyl and four 7-inch singles, along with a separate 180g 1LP picture disc, on April 28 via Anthem/UMe.Īn album that signified how Rush was in no way detached and subdivided from the ever-shifting 1980s musical landscape, Signals 40 will be available in three distinct configurations. Two minutes later, the second stage engine shut down as planned and two-and-a-half minutes after that, the SAOCOM 1A satellite was released into the planned polar orbit. Finally, dropping straight down toward Landing Zone 4, the rocket's four landing legs deployed, a single engine re-started and the booster settled to a picture-perfect touchdown in a cloud of smoke. In a first for the West Coast, a Falcon 9 rocket's first stage landed at Vandenberg Air Force Base Sunday evening, touching down at Landing Zone 4 just a few hundred yards from the launch pad where the mission began. Nearing the top of the discernible atmosphere, the booster fired the engines again to slow down for re-entry. The first stage, meanwhile, flipped around and re-started three of its nine engines to reverse course and head back toward Vandenberg. Apart from the occasional low resolution texture on the environment, Sunshine holds up remarkably well. Remember that undulating, tropical, ocean water? Well it still looks incredible today. With that in mind I was absolutely baffled by just how good Super Mario Sunshine still looks. Text and other 2D elements have also received an overhaul, but unlike Super Mario 64, all in game textures appear to be as they were at initial release. The hud has also been reformatted to fit this display and of course cleaned up for HD displays. Some of its underlying issues are still present, but on the whole, it's damn good to be back on Isle Delfino.Īpart from the obvious boost to HD that every game in the collection receives, Super Mario Sunshine is unique in that it gets brand new widescreen support. Of the three games included in this collection, Sunshine sees the most obvious visual improvements. Super Mario 3D All-Stars represents the first official re-release of Super Mario Sunshine, likely the most oft debated title in the 3D Mario lineage. It’s almost impossible to separate the game from the importance and legacy, but whether you look at Mario’s 3D debut as a historical relic or a timeless masterpiece, it’s still a game worth revisiting today and Nintendo has never released a better version of it until Super Mario 3D All-Stars. Through it all, Super Mario 64 is still a great game, even in 2020. It’s not all bad: a lot of the levels with dynamic changes like Tick Tock Clock and Tiny-Huge Island are still wildly enjoyable, but the farther the game went, the more frustrations I had. Rainbow Ride is still whimsical and novel, but the structure of the level can get repetitive and punishing. Tall Tall Mountain is basically just several stars requiring you go up the mountain in almost the same fashion several times. Tall Tall Mountain and Rainbow Ride are some of the worst offenders to me. Mostly, a number of late-game stages are rough. However, replaying it today leaves me with a few sour notes. Exploring the castle still has a charm to it, especially with the fantastic soundtrack. A lot of the star challenges are clever and fun. The variety on display through the ice, fire, and water worlds early on is great. Bob-omb Battlefield and Whomp’s Fortress are incredible starting points. The first handful of levels are still incredible. In a perfect world, seeing Super Mario 64 be more intricately upgraded would be awesome, but, like I said to start this: It ain’t broke, so it didn’t need fixing. Sure, it’s not in widescreen, but it runs beautifully and looks as sharp as a Nintendo 64 game can look without more wholesale and widespread changes. Text retains the charming font but looks cleaner and crisper. It’s not an overwhelmingly different upgrade, but it’s effective at nailing the ideal of looking not like it was, but how you remember it. After playing through it on the Switch in Super Mario 3D All-Stars, some of the shine has worn off, but dollars to doughnuts Super Mario 64 is still an immensely enjoyable game, almost as much so now as it was more than 20 years ago.įirst off, Mario 64 might have the best glow-up in this collection. For a long time, I always thought it was sublime perfection. I was there back for Super Mario 64 DS, and I’ve picked it up on every Virtual Console it came to. I’ve spent a lot of time since the original release in 1996 playing and thinking about this landmark achievement in video games. The phrase “if it ain't broke, don't fix it” comes to mind often when playing Super Mario 64. The question is, are these upgrades enough, and do these games still hold up all these years later? This isn’t to say it is without its upgrades however, not the least of which is portability for two of these games for the first time. While its naming convention follows in the footsteps of its SNES predecessor, Super Mario All-Stars, it lacks the obvious visual overhaul that made that collection stand out. Super Mario 3D All-Stars is the first time Nintendo has released a collection of 3D Mario titles. He spits contemptuously at Liebermann: “Dr Jew.” Still, Liebermann gets his confession, and stuffs a life-saving finger in Brückmüller’s fresh bullet wound. Invited anonymously by Liebermann to meet him at the fairground and ride the big wheel, Brückmüller is revealed not so much as a Moriarty mastermind but as a frighteningly recognisable trumped-up politician wanting to rid Vienna of “the vermin – the subversives, the intellectuals, the muck-raking journalists”. But it must be him – the police commissioner was keeping the mayor’s office informed of the investigation, so Brückmüller was always a step ahead. Which makes them suspicious of the Vienna steel magnate and mayor’s right-hand man, Hans Brückmüller – as if he’s the only one in the city with access to such a device. He deduces the murder weapon is an antique gun, stuffed with fragments of human bone instead of shot, so it leaves no trace (I still don’t understand why the killer thought this necessary) – and Liebermann figures the door was locked from the outside using steel forceps. It doesn’t work but he is questioned, until rich and powerful people conspire to put pressure on the police, and get Rheinhardt taken off the case.Īs if that would work Rheinhardt is dogged and anyway, he says, “work is all I have”. The sleuths arrange another seance, presumably – though it’s not clear – to pretend to contact the dead medium, and flush out one of the other attendees, a wealthy banker, Heinrich Holderlein, whose wife makes him go to this sort of thing. But it’s not Braun – the killer is an adulterer with a reputation to lose, and anyway, Braun soon ends up dead. It is cheesy, but their relationship is developing so nicely I’ll let them off. “Welcome to the case, doctor,” says Rheinhardt back to Liebermann, when they catch him. Is the killer Otto Braun, one of the men they track down who attended the seance? There is a good rooftop chase that makes him look guilty. “Find the father of this child, he’s your killer,” he tells the experienced older detective, who inexplicably fails to thank him sarcastically for the suggestion. Back to the morgue where his theory is confirmed. Goodness, he’s cocky, under that cool demeanour. “Welcome to the case, Inspector,” says the doctor. Liebermann is implausibly good at this: he points out that the woman’s apartment is “like a stage set” (they realise she holds seances), and is puzzled by the absence of clothes in her wardrobe, until he makes the giant leap that she must have been pregnant, her clothes all taken to be altered by a seamstress. Matthew Beard and Jessica de Gouw in Vienna Blood. For the first half an hour, it feels as if the makers are failing to repress their Sherlock complex – the jaunty camera angles, the hyperreal look, the jangly music – until it starts to relax into itself. But Liebermann’s character study of his reluctant new mentor is so Holmesian it feels like a spoof. The three-part series will be compared, unavoidably, to Sherlock: its writer, Steve Thompson, adapting the Frank Tallis novels, was also a Sherlock scriptwriter. It is set in Vienna in 1906, where gruff detective Oskar Rheinhardt (Juergen Maurer) is told that a young doctor – Liebermann (Matthew Beard), a fan of Freud – will be shadowing him to learn about “the psychopathy of the criminal mind”. Still, the image of junior doctor Max Liebermann hanging from his fingertips over the city of Vienna after being hurled from the door, proved a thrilling, if completely avoidable – “hypnosis would be easier” – end to the first episode of Vienna Blood (BBC Two). For someone who professes to be into the new-fangled science of what makes people tick, I’m not sure it was the cleverest move to get into a rickety carriage on a fairground ferris wheel with a psychopathic killer. There are several methods to choose from when it comes to charging the Volt. However, we managed to see 50 miles of EV range while pushing our car hard on a twisting mountain road, just three miles short of the estimated range." - Kelley Blue Book (2018) "We gave a collective eye-roll when Chevy told us our Volt test car could travel 53 miles solely on electric power. But some drivers might find the paddle's abrupt engagement off-putting." - Edmunds The Volt has an L mode and a steering-wheel-mounted paddle for more brake regeneration. In gasoline mode, the engine and the CVT work well together, too. "Electric drive is very smooth in the Volt. The Volt's Normal mode is my favorite, as it provides the best blend of efficiency and power - I find Sport mode a bit too thirsty for electrons." - CNET But with the instant torque from the Volt's electric motor, climbing and passing is a breeze. "In the hills of Vermont, 53 miles is a tough number to hit, thanks to a whole lot of uphill climbs. For more information, check out our What Is MPGe? article. On electric-only power, it gets 106 MPGe combined. In hybrid mode, the Volt returns a combined 42 mpg. The regenerative brakes also work to capture energy to recharge the Volt's battery pack. With the assistance of the gasoline engine, the Volt has a combined range of about 420 miles. This Chevy offers plenty of pep to get you moving along quickly, both in the city and on the highway.Īt 53 miles, the Volts all-electric driving range is one of the highest of any plug-in hybrid. There are no optional engines, but you dont need them. The Volt's 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and electric motor produce a combined 149 horsepower. In our 60 mph-to-zero panic-stop test, the Volt posted a respectable 119-foot distance." - Edmunds The blending of regenerative and regular friction braking is nearly imperceptible, too. "The brake pedal is a bit unresponsive initially, but otherwise the Volt's braking is pleasingly smooth and linear. The battery drains quickly on the highway, so it's more efficient to let the range extender work a bit on the freeway, switching back to electric-only operation when the going gets slower." - CNET "On the highway, I shift over to Hold mode, which maintains the battery's current charge. The Chevy also boasts a satisfying driving experience, with prompt acceleration and solid handling." - Car and Driver "Unlike many plug-in hybrids that have about 20 miles or less of electric-only range, the Volt can travel up to 53 miles before its gasoline engine fires up.The Volt model is a Sedan car manufactured by Chevrolet, sold new from year 2011 until 2014, and available after that as a used car. For stopping power, the Volt LT braking system includes Vented Discs at the front and Vented Discs at the rear. Stock tire sizes are 215 / 55 on 17 inch rims at the front, and 215 / 55 on 17 inch rims at the rear. On the topic of chassis details responsible for road holding, handling behavior and ride comfort, the Volt has McPherson front suspension and semi-independent, coil springs rear suspension. The power is transmitted to the road by the front wheel drive (FWD) with a speed gearbox. This engine produces a maximum power of 86 PS (85 bhp - 63 kW) at 4800 rpm and a maximum torque of 130 Nm (95 lb.ft) at 4250 rpm. With a fuel consumption of 1.2 litres/100km - 235 mpg UK - 196 mpg US (Average), 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 9.0 seconds, a maximum top speed of 99 mph (160 km/h), a curb weight of 3598 lbs (1632 kgs), the Volt LT has a naturally-aspirated Inline 4 cylinder engine, Hybrid / Petrol motor.
